Epitalon Care MapWhat epitalon studies leave unanswered
Starting point

What is epitalon?

A small man-made peptide. A large set of claims. Begin by getting the name right.

A peptide is a chain built from the small pieces that form proteins. Epitalon is made with four pieces.

Where did the idea come from?

Epitalon was modelled on epithalamin, an extract from a small gland in cattle brains.

That gland is called the pineal gland. It makes melatonin, a chemical the body produces that helps control sleep.

Those origins help explain the sleep claims. They do not tell us whether a treatment helps a person.

Are epitalon and epithalamin the same?

No. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) treats the two as different substances.

Epithalamin is the cattle extract. Epitalon is the small man-made peptide. Much of the older research in people used the extract.

A result for epithalamin cannot be passed along as a result for epitalon.

When looking at a paper, find the name of the substance the people actually received. Similar names can hide a very different study.

What about “epithalon” or “AEDG”?

Epithalon is another spelling of epitalon. AEDG is another name for the same peptide. Each letter refers to one of its four protein building blocks, in order.

Epithalamin is a different name for a different substance. Keep that distinction when asking about evidence.

Is it an approved US medicine?

As of 28 September 2026, there was no FDA-approved epitalon medicine or official US drug label.

A label is the reviewed information that comes with an approved medicine. Epitalon has no such US label to turn to.

A clear next question is what the person offering treatment means by epitalon, and what evidence supports that exact product.
