Get a name. Find the board record. Match it to the person and the place involved.

The board is the state body that licenses doctors. Its record is a place to start, rather than a rating of the care.
What do I need before searching?
Before searching, ask which state authorizes the visit, what type of licence the clinician holds, and their full name. Use the name of the person, rather than just the service name.
The Federation of State Medical Boards groups US medical boards together and has links to every state’s doctor licensing boards.
Some states have separate boards for doctors with different medical degrees. Check which board holds your doctor’s licence record.

What does the record tell me?
Check that the doctor’s licence is current, then look for any board action against that doctor for breaking its rules. The details a board publishes can differ by state.
A clear record means no public action against the doctor is shown. It does not prove the doctor is skilled at a particular treatment.
If an entry is hard to understand, use the board’s own explanation or ask the board about it. Keep a note of what you checked.
How do I check a pharmacy?
Ask which pharmacy would prepare or send the product, and get its name. Online patients may not otherwise know who produced it.
State pharmacy licence searches can be reached through links from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
FDA advises against using an online pharmacy absent from your state’s searchable list of licensed pharmacies.
A pharmacy licence is a separate check from a clinician’s licence.
Does a licence clear the product too?
No. The listing shows that the pharmacy has a licence. It does not prove that every medicine it supplies is suitable or supplied correctly.
